KNITTED BUNNIES

KNITTED BUNNIES from
http://Josoandsew.wordpress.com

Ohh, time flies... My son is old enough now to go to kindergarten. So I started looking for some nice ideas for his farewell gift for all his friends in daycare ;-)

It had to be easy, quick and cheap to make. Because I had to make 35 of them ;-)

I found what I looked for on http://Josoandsew.wordpress.com, a nice tutorial for knitted bunnies.

1) first knit a square.
    - for the little one I took 30 stitches
    - for the big one I took 50 stitches

2)  - sew a triangle from the middle to the top and back. Pull the thread. This way you have the ears and the head. Stuff the head.
     - then sew the back, stuff it, and finish the tail.

3) instead of a pompon for the tail, I made a label. On the label I wrote the name of his friend and on the other side I wrote my son's name.

4) Between the ears I made a ribbon with a key ring

5) I put a little bag, with some candies, around the key ring

6) Here they are, all of them together, to hand them out to the kids in daycare ;-)

HEADBAND

MATCHING HEADBAND

If you're making a skirt or a dress and you have some extra fabric left.

* make the pattern
first part:
- measure the head (5 years is around 52cm)
- fold pattern paper double
- draw a basis-line of 20 cm
- at the folding line: draw a line (12cm long) parallel to the basis-line 3,5 cm above and under
- at the end of basis-line (at 20 cm), draw a point 2,5 cm above and under the basis-line
- draw a line from the end of 12cm (3,5cm above) to the point of 2,5 cm above basis-line
- draw a line from the end of 12cm (3,5cm under) to the point of 2,5cm under basis-line
- cut out this pattern
- cut it twice out of the fabric
- and cut it also once out of vlieseline (a little but smaller)

second part:
- draw from the folding line a basis line of 13 cm
- at the folding line, draw a line (6,5cm long) parallel to the basis-line 2 cm above and under
- at the end of the 13 cm basis line draw a point 2,5cm above and under
- draw a line from the 6,5cm point to the point 2,5cm above the basis line (under and above)
- cut out this pattern
- and cut it twice out of the fabric

last part:
- cut an elastic of 16 cm (if head is 52 cm)
- otherwise you have to calculate : 40 cm headband + 12 cm elastic = 52 cm
but on top of this 12cm you add another 4cm for the seams => 12 cm + 4 cm = 16 cm

1. iron the vlieseline on the top part of the headband (the flower part here)

2. put the good side of the fabrics on top of each other and sew the long edges on 1 cm
3. cut the excess fabric away
4. do this for the headband and for the casing for the elastic

5. then turn the casing inside out
6. get the elastic through the casing with a safety pin and fix it at the top

7.put this through the casing of the headband (still the good side of the fabric on the inside)

8. stitch across (forward, backward of forward) this all on 1 cm of the edge

9. pull the elastic casing out and this way turn the headband inside out

10. then fix the elastic and the casing in the other side of the headband. Try it on to see if it fits. Then sew across all (forward, backward, forward)

Finished !!!!!

you can wear it on both sides!!!!!! Easy.

And now we wait for the skirt to be finished ;-)

APPLE-KITTEN BAG

APPLE-KITTEN BAG

* crochet 2 kittens

Crochet, in normal single crochet stitch, a little circle from around 5 to 6 rows , depending on the thickness of the wool.

Then take another color (and another kind of wool) and crochet two rows around the circle in normal single crochet stitch, but on two sides of the circle you make 2 double crochet stitches (the ears of the kitten). And then another 2 rows (or 3) around the circle in half double crochet stitch.

Make two pieces!!!

* the bag
                    *one side
Then we'll crochet them together. Start 2 or 3 stitches below the ears and make
- a chain of 15 stitches
- make the 16th stitch through the other crocheted kitten (also 2 or 3 stitches below the ears)
- then turn an make another chain of 15 stitches,...
- make around 10 chains

                        *the bottom
- then make another chain of 12 stitches from one side to the other
- and crochet half double crochet stitch for the next row
- crochet as many rows until you are on the opposite site.

                            *the other side
- make again around 10 chains above each other (each chain has 15 stitches)

                            *the ears
- make a chain from one ear to the other ear (around 40 stitches)
-then  2 rows of 12 single crochet stitches, 16 half double crochet stitches and again 12 single crochet stitches
- and finally 1 row all in single crochet stitches

-do the same for the other ear

stitch with a needle the nose and mouth, eyes, ...

This kitten is ready to go to school, ... with a nice apple, orange, ...
