SEWING A DRAUGHT STOPPER

It's getting cold again!!! A draught stopper would be the perfect solution to stop winter entering our home;-)
I looked in my recycle boxes to find the right shaped article of clothing. I found a long, woolen jumper/dress.
Make a pattern with the right measurements of the door width.  I used 34 x 94 cm.
Pin the pattern on the jumper/dress and be sure that you cut the two layers.

Keep the sleeves, and stuff them with old, worn socks etc. Later on we'll put those stuffed sausages into the draught stopper.
You 'll need an extra couple of sleeves to fill the whole draught stopper. I stuffed 4 sleeves.
Sew the ends of the sleeves
Cut 2 circles with the same perimeter as the width of your pattern (34 cm in this case). Sew all the ends including the circles, and make sure you stopple all the edges, so they won't unravel.
In the middle of the draught stopper I put some press buttons.

This way you can open and close the draught stopper to put the stuffed sleeves in and out. This way you can easily wash the cover  ;-)

WEDDING CARD

What to give for a reception of a wedding. The invitation was in red and black, so I decided to do something with those two colors.

First I cut all the little pieces. Then I put them in the right order and glew them.

On top of the cake I put the money, and on the ribbons I wrote our names.

So when they take out the money and the ribbons they have a nice memory of their wedding.

CROWN OF FELT

A special day deserves a special crown...

Take 4 x A4 format felt pages and cut them into a crown and sew them together.

Cut some figures out of the leftovers of the felt and sew them onto the crown.

And guess what, someone will be very happy with his crown ;-)

cover notebook

ORIGINAL, SOFT AND UNIQUE BOOKCOVER

Beginning of a new school year. And even in kindergarten you need bookcovers these days. One for a "songbook" and one for the " parent/teacher notebook". I had the crazy idea to make these bookcovers out of FELT...

The only things you need : felt, needle, thread, ribbon and a button.

 2x felt A4 format  and 1x felt in a different colour 1/2 A4 format

a nice ribbon to sew along the edges of the 1/2 A4

cut out the corners (so you can easily fold it on the inside),
and sew or glue the name

on the inside: sew all the lose ends (ribbon and cover)

this is the cover of the "songbook"

this is the cover of the parent/teacher notebook

with on the inside a bookmark

I hope you all enjoy making this bookcover !!!!!!

Thanks for reading

PLAY-CARPET FULL OF MEMORIES (part 1)

Playing with the LEGO is so much fun, but these little pieces are always spread out over the floor ;-( And my feet don't like them, it really hurts...

We definitely need a play-carpet!!!!
How do we start???

I came across some boxes full of baby clothes from my angels ;-)

That would be nice : A PLAY-CARPET FULL OF MEMORIES!!!!!!

I got the crazy idea to make the play-carpet out of those tiny little baby-clothes. This must have been the way patchwork was invented.

photo 1: cut all the clothes in the same rectangular shape

And believe me, it broke my heart cutting their baby-clothes, but one day, when this project is finished, they 'll enjoy their old clothes again, in another way ;-)

photo 2: first put them in a nice order and then sew them all together

Unfortunately, I have the same problem as probably everyone of you, and that is a lack of TIME. So one day this project will be finished!!!

BIRTHDAY-GIFT FOR TEACHER AND KIDS

What to give the teacher and the kids from school when your daughters 4th birthday is coming up?

We made delicious muffins. But I wanted to give something personal to take along. So I looked in my recycle boxes... and I found:

Two old jerseys a bleu and a brown one, an old jeans and an old shirt.

Make a mold, and copy it on the inside of the jersey's. Cut it, sew it. And leave a little hole, where you can turn it inside out. Then stuff it, and stitch the little whole. Cross stitch the eyes, nose and mouth.
You can personalize it the way you want. I put the first letter of every kid's name on the belly, and put a name card on the side.

I used an old bleu jersey to make nice personalized bears for the girls, and an old brown jersey for the boys.

For the teacher I made a nice bag from an old jeans!!! And to take it to school I put all the bears in the bag.
To personalize the bag I put the teacher her name on one side of the bag with a few flowers.
and on the other side I put all the names of her pupils.
